I first came across Bob Beck years ago - long before Covid, actually. I stumbled onto some of his old lectures, recorded back in the late 1990s or early 2000s. I'm a software engineer by trade, but I've always had my hands in a lot of other areas of engineering too, and I'm not too shabby on the electrical side of things. So Bob Beck's approach - an electrical engineer and a medical researcher at the same time - really got my attention. The mechanism and the theory behind what he was saying just made sense to me.
I got interested enough that I figured I'd buy the products and just keep them on the shelf for whenever I or someone around me got sick. It seemed low risk - worst case, I'm out a couple hundred bucks, and that's not the end of the world.
I got the wrist pulsing unit first, because I liked the theory behind treating the blood with a mild electrical charge. And I picked up the Magnetic Pulsing unit too - the wand - because I'd found a lot of NIH research on how effective that technology could be. Plus, shipping's cheaper when you order both from the same place, and SOTA was the same company built on Bob Beck's work, so I figured there was nobody better to buy from.
The help sitting right under my nose.
Then I really did just let those units sit on the shelf for years, collecting dust. At one point I lent the wand (Magnetic Pulsing) to my mother for her arthritis. She used it a week or two - said she felt better after the first week, but not so much the second, and then she stopped. That's on her, though; you can't really judge a result from a week or two.
Then my wife got sick with Covid. A pretty bad case - she was pregnant at the time, and you really don't want to be sick while you're pregnant. She had continuous coughing for close to two weeks. Eventually I caught it too. I've had Covid five times now, and it's usually not a big deal for me - mild cold symptoms and that's it. But this time it got bad enough that I got desperate. I was coughing every two minutes, and I couldn't stop myself even if I tried.
I dug through my closet and found the wrist pulsing unit. Used it once, Sunday night, and felt better the whole next day. I thought, okay, maybe there's something to this. But the next day, it hadn't really cleared out of my lungs - the coughing came back, even worse. I used the wrist pulsing a second time, and it didn't help nearly as much as it had the first time. My theory is that the first round cleared my blood, but not my lungs, which is where the coughing kept coming from.
Reconsidering the approach
So I figured maybe the issue wasn't my blood - maybe it was my lungs. I called my mother and asked for the magnetic pulsing unit back. That first night, I used it for 15 to 20 minutes - moving it around over my chest while I sat and watched TV. I didn't really know what the dosage should be, so I erred on the side of caution and kept it short.
Two hours later, my lungs were completely clear. The cough had basically retreated all the way up to my sore throat. That's what really sold me, because there's no way that was a placebo effect. I couldn't stop myself from coughing every couple of minutes if I wanted to - and then two hours later, it was gone completely.
The next day, the cough came back the same way - like it grew back out of my throat and into my lungs over about 24 hours. Since I hadn't noticed any side effects the first night, I went a bit longer the second night.
Two hours later, gone again. Same pattern a third night in a row - cough came back, I hit it with the wand, and two hours later it cleared again. After that third night, it didn't come back. Three consecutive nights, once per night, roughly a 15-to-20-minute session each time, and a two-hour turnaround to relief every single time.
Three nights in. Now it was her turn.
By that point I was confident enough to try it on my wife. She was about two weeks into it by then, with a continuous cough the whole way through, though it was starting to ease up on its own. She used the wand once, that night, and her cough was pretty much gone by that same night. The next day she coughed maybe twice, the whole day.
I've started telling everyone I can about this. People often ask, "if this works so well, wouldn't we all be doing it?"
I know the answer isn't simple, but for me, having gone down the rabbit hole of research and experienced the results firsthand, I'm just grateful we had it when we needed it. It's become my ace in the pocket for any respiratory issues - that's always going to be the first thing I try. And I'm already planning to get sets for family in the southeast and southwest so everyone's got their own.
